Vancouver Athletic Football Club

Vancouver Athletic Football Club (VAFC) is the umbrella organization for three long standing youth soccer clubs: Douglas Park Soccer Club, Grandview Legion Football Club (est. 1955), and the Vancouver Girls Soccer Club. Our diverse and inclusive membership has steadily grown over the last 5 years, with over 2,100 youth members ages 4 to 18 in Central, Downtown, and East Vancouver.

We are proud to support an environment that has one of the highest participation rates for girls soccer in Vancouver. VAFC offers recreational and competitive Fall/Winter and Spring Leagues, high performance Academy options, team based funding for tournaments, and leadership development for interested players in high school.

Programs

VAFC operates teams at the House League (U5-U10), 8-Aside (U11-U12) and Divisional (U13-18) levels for boys and girls. Our House Chapters are based on multiple home fields east of Granville, which allows practices and games for younger players to be neighbourhood focused. Our Divisional teams have flexible practice times across most of Vancouver’s all-season Artificial Turf fields and have access to indoor training facilities during inclement weather. We locate our Development Camps and Academies centrally to serve our overall club membership. In 2017/2018 VAFC managed over 95 boys and 75 girls Divisional teams.

Players and coaches alike are supported in training and certification to achieve their highest potential in our club and to grow in an environment that remains engaging and, foremost, fun. We work in partnership with our neighbouring clubs and have a successful track records of graduating players into the higher performance leagues at the divisional levels. VAFC endorses and follows the BC Soccer Association Long Term Player Development, a player centred approach that provides guidelines for training, competition and recovery. VAFC emphasizes growth of individual and team skills, commitment to team and club, and the values of sportsmanship, inclusiveness, diversity, respect, and having fun.
